Meet my newest love, Christian, all swaddled up like a little burrito. When you’re at the hospital after delivering a baby, most nurses will use a baby swaddle and tell you it’s the best way to make your baby feel all comfy and cozy like they did in the womb. This is an ancient practice and helps calm the baby, prevents them from moving their arms and feet so they don’t wake themselves up and also eliminates the need for a blanket which can be unsafe in the crib of a young child. I am a fan of the baby swaddle method because with both of my babies I’ve truly noticed it helps them fall asleep faster (as you can see it got Christian to yawn here). So if a baby swaddle is the only fashion your baby will be rocking for the first month or two of his or her life, make sure he/she is wearing the coolest styles. This way, all the pictures you look back on (because you will be snapping many) won’t be in some unattractive, lame-print blanket.
How cool is this baby swaddle honestly? I love the design because it’s cool and not too baby-ish, but most of all I love that you can swaddle with snaps. There are four different settings depending on your baby’s size so you can wrap and snap according to what feels more comfortable and continue to use this as he grows. The snaps (unlike velcro) don’t stick to other clothing or blankets.
The Baby Sack
This baby swaddle is more like a baby sack where you can put your baby’s body in and either completely swaddle her by tying up her arms or leaving them loose. Although I’m not too keen on any velcro baby products because in the dryer the velcro gets stuck to other clothing, this is the perfect baby swaddle for tummy time because baby’s arms are free to rest on. It’s also a plain creamy color that will make your baby look like a cream puff in her pictures.
I’m not a big fan of animals on baby clothes, but these guys are a pretty cool and contemporary take on the cheesy animal prints out there. These are the famous Aden and Anais muslin swaddle blankets and give you freedom on how to wrap up your babies arms and legs and how tight or loose to make the swaddle.
I love this baby swaddle because it has a cool mesh design in the center making sure your baby has some breathing room in the hot weather. The material is soft, the zipper is easy to undo and the grey color is neutral for both boys and girls.
Soft Like a Baby’s Bottom
These are my absolute favorite swaddle blankets. They are also Aden and Anais but much softer than the regular muslin swaddle blankets because they are made of bamboo. They also have a cool design that’s also boy/girl appropriate! Because they are so soft they can transition into your baby’s spring/summertime blanket after they are done being swaddled in them.
