Fall is finally here! I’m a little sad to say goodbye to Summer, but after the multiple heat waves we had in LA this year, I’m certainly ready for a nice hot-chocolate-sipping, cold crispy air kind of pumpkin carving season. It really can’t get cooler fast enough. On the last day of Summer, I wore this outfit to ring in the Fall. If you remember, I hesitantly gave culottes a chance and fell in love. Here I’m wearing a V-Neck jumpsuit from Topshop, paired with a Loeffler Randall satchel bag that I’m about to get into, a leopard skinny belt from Cole Haan and perforated camel bootie heels from Bloomies.

So with the season changing, let’s talk about handbag trends 2015. Remember, Summer was all about bucket bags and loose totes with fold-over flaps but now you’ll notice more structured envelope styles, almost-square designs (perhaps inspired by Instagram?) Not sure, but, that’s some food for thought.

The one thing I look for most in a bag is how much room it has. When choosing a clutch, I always make sure there’s enough room for a cell phone and lipstick. If those two things fit, and the clutch closes easily, I’m sold. However for a fall shoulder bag, I know I’ll be wearing it on a daily basis so ideally, I need it to have more space to fit my cell phone, sunglasses (an absolute must), notebook, calendar, a mini makeup pouch for touchups, and a light cardigan. All the bags I mention below passed the test of fitting my checklist items, at the very least. In order of price, here are my favorite fall handbag trends of 2018:

Ted Baker London Large Technicolor Bloom Bag ($219.00) It’s a canvas design and trust me, these photos don’t do it any justice so I’ll wear it in an upcoming outfit post so that you guys get the full picture. The size of this bag is perfect. I’ve been able to fit my entire daily life of items in it with no problem. The only thing you probably can’t use it as is a diaper bag. Otherwise, it’s good for an everyday wear-to-work bag and superbly transitions into a night out bag.

Loeffler Randall Medium Rider’ Calf Hair Satchel ($575.00) From the outfit photo above, Loeffler Randall has become one of my favorite designers this year. This bag is awesome for a few reasons. The strap is detachable so you can hold it like a handbag whenever you want to, and it features a maroon hair-calf surface that gives it a hint of shine without overpowering the style of the bag.

Gancio

Salvador Ferragamo Medium Gancio Lock Shoulder Bag ($2,050.00) I’ve been a huge fan of Ferragamo but previously I wasn’t into the whole “bow” thing they had going on. But this structured stud muffin I can get down with. The gold hardware and bold accents are right up my alley and scream rocker chic without being too in your face about it.

Saint Laurent YSL Monogram College Large Chain Satchel Bag ($2,790.00) One of my most adored brands is out with the larger size of their classic monogram satchel with the envelope flap. They also have this size and style in black and medium styles in dark red and nude (here and here).

Givenchy Obsedia Small Textured-Leather Satchel ($2,790.00) Lastly, this beautifully structured bag featuring an iconic silver bar and large flap. It’s the simplest of the bunch, but nevertheless classy and chic, without the monogrammed appeal. It’s leather, which is always a good investment if you’re looking for something that will last you a few years. With a detachable strap, it’s roomy enough to fit all your day to day items, and then some.

I’d love to know if you guys find any others that I should add to this list. Keep me posted in the comments below or follow me on Instagram @sointheknow.
