The Black And White Striped Dress: Day to Night

From Summer heat to Winter frost, nothing sizzles like a simple black and white striped dress. While the item itself is classic and adorable, the color palette is fairly open, allowing you to transition from a lighter day look to a more dramatic nighttime appeal with only a few changes in shoes, jacket and accessories. That’s exactly what I did with this striped dress from Cache. I got this dress a while back but not to worry, I have an alternative in mind for you 🙂

By adding some bright and bold colors, I created a perfect daytime look with my dress. Check out Forever 21 for a black and white striped dress that’s very similar to mine. This dress is a steal at only $15.18 and also hits above the knee and pairs well with a variety of looks. For this look I wore an anorak jacket with a black leather belt OVER it for a funner/different look. A bright red bag dresses up any daytime outfit, and Target is a great place to shop for a variety of choices under $50. The best way to add a little cool factor to your outfit while the sun is still up is a great pair of heels. Now all you need is some banging red nail polish, a cheap chunky ring that advertises your personal style and a fun bracelet or two.

Again, the striped dress is your best friend when it comes to going out dresses. This time, though, we’ll turn the volume up with a black leather jacket. I paired it with a quilted shoulder bag because I felt it complimented the leather jacket well. Add a pair of strappy heels, a floral gem necklace, chunky ring, red lips (using my favorite MAC Russian Red lipstick) and bright nail polish to complete the ensemble. Now you’ve gone from day to night!

With a few simple swaps, it’s so easy to wear one dress all day and take it into the night.

It started way back in my youngster years when I would play with my mom's hair products, wear her clothes, and act out fashion and beauty commercials. Working in the fashion industry as a designer for major brands inspired me to use that knowledge and to kickstart my style tutorials. When I am not blogging, you can find me in the jewelry section at the mall or looking for the next best chips and guac restaurant. Arm and ring parties are my favorite kind of parties, Shihtzus are my favorite kind of dogs and I would take Chanel over anything, anyday!
