I’m generally not one to decorate for the holidays. On occasion I’ll go all-out for a party or because family are in town, but in the past 10 years I can count on one hand how many times I’ve done that. However this year, that’s all going to change. I have a son now and I want him to enjoy the holidays as much as I did as a kid, which means I have a newfound interest in all things holiday. I started with Halloween and a black and white Dia De Los Muertos theme, and now I’m moving onto Christmas. But with a kid I also have a new sense of budgeting – do you know how many diapers I could buy for that ornament and how many ornaments you actually need to cover a decent sized tree? My tactic has been to scour the sale sections online for the best deals on quality holiday decor. Here are my fave sites!
West Elm – West Elm is known for their modern decor, with a mid-century twist, at reasonable prices. Their holiday decor is minimal, sophisticated and homey with a Scandinavian vibe and just the right amount of kitsch. Right now Christmas decor is on sale, and I’m scooping up things like the Grey Knit Stockings, Felt Ball Wreath, and my personal favorite Manny the Frenchie ornament.
Pottery Barn – When it comes to a classic Christmas, look no further than Pottery Barn. From wreaths and ornaments, to all manner of reindeer and Santa, PB has traditional Christmas in the bag. I’m eyeing their assortment of faux fur throws and blankets to add a cozy touch to my living room.
Pottery Barn Kids – PBK is the best place to scoop up kid-friendly seasonal decor – they have the cutest Christmas stockings for the whole family! I love the idea of mixing in a few child-specific pieces into my more minimalist grown-up decorating scheme and I’m eyeing the Wooden Tree Advent Calendar and Nordic Wool Stockings. Another thing I love is they celebrate any and all holidays, so there’s something for everyone. Also, if you’re into planning ahead, their Halloween costumes are a steal right now, and I’m seriously considering forcing my kid to be a baby sea turtle next year.
Wayfair – When it comes to a sheer mass amount of options, good prices, and a generous return policy, I always turn to Wayfair. So it comes as no surprise that their holiday assortment is equally vast. They have everything from Christmas trees to Menorahs and anything else you could imagine in between, so if you have the time to filter through the pages and pages of goodies, there are fun things and great deals to be had! I’m admittedly tempted to add some Christmas Star Wars figures into the mix because why not have fun with it? #nerd #cantwaitforthe18th
Restoration Hardware – If elegant and luxurious is your game, Restoration Hardware is the only name you need to know. This is the place to go when you’re looking for quality pieces to add to your collection. The aesthetic is clean and classic, the designs are timeless. I’m drooling over their Victorian Crystal and Handblown Glass Ornaments to add a vintage sparkle to my tree.
Pier 1 – Pier 1 is admittedly not on my radar most of the time, but in my hunt for all things holiday decor, I was pleasantly surprised with their assortment. They’ve divided up their decor by theme so it’s easy to find things to match your style and I’m definitely charmed by their cute natural animal decor (just look at this penguin!) The selection is robust, but not overwhelming, and while on the whole things tend to lean a little gaudy, a little extra sparkle never hurt anyone!
